A Grungy Elopement at The Grist Mill
This styled shoot has been on my mind for a couples years now, because I love the moody, alternative yet funky and kind of western vibes so much when I see them! I knew that Jacquie was the right person to pair up with for this vision I had and it worked out perfectly because The Grist Mill was the most fitting venue ever!
Jacquie and I planned this Prince Edward County grungy and moody styled elopement in addition to our colourful palm springs styled shoot. We had so much fun planning both as we were able to apply different trends and inspiration to each. I am all for a colourful, bright, funky, Palm Springs vibe wedding but this particular moody and grungy look was just as fun. Both styled shoots had to get pushed back during our first lockdown COVID. As a result, we did the shoot in August of 2021 and it was well worth the wait!
Our Inspiration
The County lends itself perfectly to non-traditional weddings and elopements. This is one of the main reasons we decided to organize a styled shoot there. The Grist Mill was such a cool location and I loved featuring Jacquie’s beauty bus.
This almost western grunge look is so popular with elopements so we wanted to get in on the action in our own way with our own twists. For example, lots of neutrals, dark accent colours and just a hint of western edge. Calling all anti-bride, and couples alike that don’t follow normal wedding traditions, this elopement is for you.
Prince Edward County
Elopements are becoming more popular each year and COVID has seemed to amplify that popularity even more. PEC (Prince Edward County) is the perfect eloping destination. There are some great food spots, wine spots and fantastic views so it was a no-brainer for a venue location! The Grist Mill worked out so perfectly and Brittiny has this incredible neon light wall that just added so much to the shoot!
In addition, you’ll also notice we finished the session off with a quick beach sunset and an outfit change!
To sum up, I hope you enjoy these images because it was a collection of many peoples hard work! Be sure to share it with your friends.
This styled elopement would not have happened without the incredible team of vendors involved.

Florals – Maison Anthea
Thalia really took our inspiration and made it flourish! Just look at the photos of the altar/arbour set up that we had. Her florals were even more stunning in person if you can believe it. I would absolutely love to see more of those pampas installations at weddings and elopements.

Décor & Venue – Weddings By Brittiny
If you haven’t heard of The Grist Mill then I recommend you check it out next time you’re in this area. The Grist Mill hosts events on weekend and is a pop-up wedding space as well. With that being said if you’re downsizing your celebration this might be your perfect location!
Brittiny did a great job with the tablespace and the décor. It was so classy in-addition to being non-traditional, grungy and fun! I hope to see you incorporate some of these grungy ideas and decor because they’re so cool and unique. And honestly, why not!

Make-up & Hair – Jacquie K
Jacquie might just be the coolest person I know and it’s not just because she’s incredible at her job and a total boss, which she absolutely is. Her make-up and hair were the most perfect match for the look we were going for. If you don’t have a reason to hire a make-up artist right now that’s fair, but then go get your nails done by this girl or buy her make-up products! Her lipsticks are incredible and a great gift!

Wedding Dress – Sinders Bridal
The ladies at Sinders Bridal House are going to dress you to impress. They knew exactly the right dresses to bring our ideas to life. This All Who Wander dress was so stunning and perfect for what we wanted. It’s got the most lovely detailing all over the bodice. It embodies both bold, edgy and timeless. Secondly is our double bonus because these sleeves are an extra add on! You can have them on during the day and take them off for a night look that allows you to show of your dance moves!
