Gary & Nikkie’s September 20th wedding was a beautiful blend of personal tradition, sentimental moments and beautiful views of nature, all set against the lush backdrop of Kortright Conservation Area in the GTA. Having photographed their proposal, it was such a full-circle moment to capture their wedding day too.

A Meaningful Start: Chinese Tea Ceremony

The day began at Nikkie’s parents’ house with a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony, followed by a quick drive to Kortright, getting ready, a first look and family time. This part of the day was rich in culture and meaning, filled with quiet moments and a strong sense of family connection.

A Forest Ceremony Among the Trees

After a quick outfit change, the celebration continued at Kortright Conservation. Kortright offered the perfect setting for their outdoor ceremony. Surrounded by tall rows of trees and warm late-September light, the space felt secluded and peaceful. Twinkling string lights added just the right amount of magic. The minimal, fall-toned decor and dried florals complemented the natural landscape perfectly—simple, warm, and effortless.

Portraits Throughout the Day

We took portraits in multiple locations throughout the day—starting at the family home, continuing through the forested trails at Kortright, and finishing near the ceremony site at sunset. The mix of natural greens and soft light made for timeless, earthy images that reflect Gary & Nikkie’s wedding day and their connection.

A Reception Full of Emotion

The reception took place in Kortright’s hall, a space with floor-to-ceiling windows looking directly into the forest. The room was filled with heartfelt speeches, laughter, and one particularly moving moment—an audio message from Nikkie’s grandparents, who couldn’t attend. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

A Calm, Grounded Celebration

Gary & Nikkie’s wedding was thoughtful and grounded, centered on connection, culture, and celebrating with the people who matter most. The simplicity of their day allowed every emotion and every relationship to shine.
